What body shape am I?

Updated: Apr 15, 2020

There are a few things I wish I would have learned sooner in life and one of those would be my body shape. For years I struggled to find outfits that complimented my figure because I did not know what my body shape was! As a result, I ended up with a wardrobe I hated and I often found myself feeling insecure, depressed, and less than. I dreaded shopping, and fitting rooms became “torture” rooms for me. All this changed when I discovered my body shape and learned how to shop for pieces that would complement my shape. I also learned how to create a wardrobe and style outfits in a way that made me feel confident and beautiful! I want to help you do the same! Let's explore the different body shapes together and figure out yours!

The most common body shapes are the:

  • Apple

  • Pear

  • Hourglass

  • Rectangle

Before I dive into describing the different body shapes I feel like it is worth noting that YOU are “fearfully and wonderfully made!” ( Psalm 139:14) We are all made to be beautifully unique. Knowing your body type can make shopping for clothes easier, but there is no body shape that is “better” than the other. The terms I use below are terms I have used very loosely in hopes to guide and inform you about each body shape. They are meant to inform and help with the shopping experience.

A strategic wardrobe that compliments your body shape

With that said, let’s dive into the body shapes!

The Apple body shape description:

  • Broad shoulders and bigger bust.

  • A less defined waist.

  • Your bust, waist, and hips tend to be around the same size.

The Pear body shape description:

  • Hips that are wider than your shoulders.

  • A round bottom and full thighs.

  • Narrow shoulders and small bust.

  • Defined, narrow waist.

The Hourglass body shape description:

  • Full bust and round bottom.

  • Narrow waist with balanced shoulders and hips.

The Rectangle body shape description:

  • Shoulders are the same size as hips.

  • Small bust and undefined waist.

  • Straight hips and bottom.

  • Not many curves.

I hope you found this information helpful as you figure out your body shape. My hope is that you will have a wardrobe full of outfits that make you feel beautiful and confident.
